Farewell, 2014.

This year has been bonkers.
  • I signed on to write a song a week with RealWomenRealSongs.
  • I WROTE a song every week.  I actually did it.
  • I taught my eighth semester of high school English.
  • I interviewed for a community college job that I really, really wanted but did not get.
  • I graduated with the freshman I started with by resigning in April, even though I did not have another job lined up.
  • In May Hope and I went to a songwriting workshop in Nashville and met super cool people and hung out with Angela and Darrell.
  • In June Star Belle played The Denver Uke Fest and hung out with the Ooks of Hazard.
  • We celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary in Mexico.
  • The Mrs. Dunbars played their first official gig at The Flatwater Music Festival.
  • We celebrated my in-laws 45th anniversary in Wisconsin.
  • I went to Song School and the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival with my super friends after a four year hiatus (the same week that school started without me-eeep!)
  • I started a small adjunct gig for Hastings College's Teacher Education department supervising student teachers.
  • I started working for Pacha Soap--totally didn't see that coming...totally love it.
  • I went to FARM in October.  The Mrs. Dunbars played a big showcase. We hosted a showcase with some great folks.  We made new friends.  Hope and I were inspired to start a new project.
  • I wrote 70 pages of my first novel that I've been dreaming about writing and putting off forever.  I actually can't believe I just said that in a public forum.  I might delete it....
  • I took my daughter to get her driver's permit and open a checking account.
  • I went to lots of cross country meets and cheered on all three kids--so fun.
  • I went out for coffee and drinks a lot.
  • I went to the post office and bank DURING BUSINESS HOURS and was able to run errands for my kids while they were at school (teachers, you know what I'm talking about here).

It's been a banner year.  I am so grateful to Paul who supports all my adventures.  When I doubt if I can or should go out and do something big and exciting he always says, "GO!"  I am so grateful to everyone who has encouraged me and supported me and listened to my music or come out to shows.  I can't wait to see what 2015 brings!  Happy new year to you all.

Here's my final reflection for RWRS.
